Aside from the use for blocking light, the curtain is another kind of furniture for home decoration as well. Hence, the curtain must be maintained properly. Therefore, after the curtains are already fixed, then start to wash that for the first time two years from fixing date for home or room that are rarely exposed to much dust or people who hardly have time to wash. But after that, the curtain should be washed at least one time a year to prolong its lifespan. As for the curtain with regular exposure to sunlight, it should be washed at least 2-3 times a year. This is because the fabric of curtain with exposure to strong sunlight on a regular basis will be harder, drier and more easily broken.

Remove the curtain from curtain rail. Some types of curtains may include particular method of removal; therefore it is wise to consult with the expert in curtain. |

Take the removed curtain to detach the hooks, the weighting chain or devices attached to the curtain. |

Take the curtain with the devices already removed for washing with clean water at least two times so that dirty marks or dust that are not deeply embedded are removed first. |

After washing with clean water, the curtain should be soaked for at least half an hour or more if it is still dirty with normal powdered detergent. After that, bring the curtain to be washed to remove the powdered detergent entirely. |

Put the curtain into the washing machine. Choose the washing program for thick cloth. It is not suggested to wash the cloth with hot water because this may cause damage to some fabrics. After the curtain washing finishes, spin the cloth to be not quite dry. Then remove the cloth from the machine immediately. Take the already washed curtain to put hooks. Hang the curtain on rail as the same. Pleat the curtain to be into place as the same. Hanging the curtain immediately after the washing is completed will not make the curtain get creases. Some fabrics may not require ironing at all. Open doors and windows to allow for adequate ventilation. Pull to close the curtain so that all parts are exposed to air. Soon the curtain will be dry and return to new condition as the same. |
